Your Traditional Wedding Ceremony

Wedding rings

It seems just awhile ago prospective brides looked forward to buying a white gown, inviting a few family friends, walking down the aisle of their church and going to grandma’s house for a reception. Those days seem to be gone forever. There are so many choices now that even in the past 3 years, wedding costs have soared creating a $5 billion industry.

  • Engagement rings are up to an average of $4,000, up 39% since 1999.
  • Wedding rings up 56% to an average of $1,651
  • Photography and videography costs $2,500, up 103%
  • Reception dinners $40-$80 per plate, up 54%
  • Flower costs have risen 45%, up to $1,121
  • and a officiant in Manhattan will set you back $1,000

In addition to the costs, a wedding ceremony is a very personal decision. There are so many things to think about:

  • Do I want a man or woman officiant? A civil official or a minister?
  • How do I want the officiant to dress? In a robe, or?
  • Do I want a religious or non-religious ceremony?
  • Which family members do I have to be sure not to offend?
  • How long do we want to stand up at the altar?
  • Would I like to include a prayer based on my heritage or that of my prospective spouse?
  • Do I want music, if so what kind and when?
  • How about bible quotes?
  • A rose ceremony?
  • A unity candle ceremony?
  • A sand ceremony?
  • Do I want to include my extended family in these optional ceremonies?

Rev Marcia feels that it is not only our job (and honor) to co-write the words and order of your ceremony with you, but to help you make any other decisions you may be wrestling with. She’s here to see that your wedding day runs smoothly, with as little stress as possible and that everyone feels included, acknowledged and deliriously happy – starting with the bride and groom.

We can talk on the phone as much as needed, Email back and forth, meet more than once if necessary, go to the wedding site with you, consult and advise wherever you feel you need some additional assistance. In short, we want this to be a memorable day for you, not because something went wrong, but because everything went right!
